Enrollment in the Welding Technology Program at Metropolitan Career-Technical Center will provide students with a proper foundation for various welding careers. The program operates under American Welding Society (AWS) standards and guidelines.

Students are taught Oxyfuel Gas Cutting Principles and Practices (manual and machine), Arc Cutting Principles and Practices (Air Carbon Arc and Plasma Arc Cutting), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIG).

Students will also have the opportunity to train on state of the art welding equipment such as the VRTEX 360 Virtual Reality Welder, Lincoln Electric eCell Robotic Welding System and the Koike Aronson CNC Plasma Cutting machine. Students can use the obtained skills to strengthen their welding career or prep for postsecondary education.

Welding students also enhance their opportunity to obtain employability in a variety of businesses and industries related to Welding Technology.
